I never set out to cook every recipe from #Falastincookbook. What usually happens is that I start reading my new cookbook and then writing down the recipes I want to try first. Also when I start cooking from a new cookbook I find myself going back to it if the recipes deliver on taste. I have cookbooks that I cooked one or two recipes from I didn’t like. I often then just move on to other cookbooks and forget about them until I’m ready to give them a second chance. That can take years 🤭 😬. Can anyone relate or am I the only one?
Because Falastin did not disappoint I kept cooking from it until Sami asked me how many recipes I had already cooked. It was 20 May and I had already cooked 62 dishes, which was more then half the recipes. That’s when I decided to cook the whole book. I wrote down every recipe and started crossing them out when I made them. I was on a roll until #OttolenghiFlavour came out. Then I had to divide my attention between the two cookbooks because everything from Flavour also looked amazing. I got a bit distracted by Flavour but couldn’t put Falastin down until I finished it. I started on March 27th with the falafel with sumac onion and I made my last recipe last week, the labneh cheesecake with roasted apricots, honey and cardamom. I have really enjoyed the process and Falastin has given me some go-to recipes that I will use for years to come.
So now for the big questions:
1) what are my favourite recipes from Falastin?
2) did Falastin dethrone #JerusalemCookbook as my favourite cookbook?
