I have to hand it to the merchandising team for loading up all the derm no-nos π on the bottom shelves. π
So why are these nos for me?
Makeup wipes- I appreciate the convenience factor here but many of these products contain ingredients that can be harsh on your skin. A good face wash, or double cleanse, is preferable and even if that isnβt possible I would choose simple micellar water on a cotton pad.
Bio Oil - This one may not be universally loathed the way some of the other products here are, but I feel the benefits of it are overhyped, especially when it comes to treating stretch marks. It also contains Vitamin E, which can be an allergen for some.
Physical scrubs - I know there are some people who still swear by these (ahem @yayayayoung) but most dermatologists tend to recommend chemical exfoliation over physical as these scrubs can be overly abrasive and damage the skin - and wow who knew St. Ives has so many varieties of the same scrub!!
Pore strips - While they undeniably provide a feeling of satisfaction to pull off, they too can be harsh on the skin. When it comes to dealing with whiteheads or blackheads I would suggest using salicylic acid or retinol instead for a more beneficial long term solution.
