Freefall, Oil on Polyester, 2023, 48x84in. Snagged a quick pic right before she got taken to Laguna Art Museum. I gave this painting everything I had in the months leading up to the deadline. This painting focuses on the duality of growth. Growth is a beautiful human experience, but also an uncomfortable one. This painting specifically reflects on my personal journey in accepting the lack of control I have in life, or accepting that life is just one giant freefall, and I am finding immense personal growth in that acceptance.   This painting feels like a genuine amalgamation of my subconscious, who I am as an artist, and what I have learned the past two years of MFA. It visually embodies my current state in life: my awareness of a constant flux of growth and decay, my efforts to understand my place in this overwhelming world and the limited time we have here, all while striving to find my grounding, so that I can blossom into the best version of myself..   Come see the rest of the incredible work in the exhibition and celebrate with us.
