THANK YOU ASHYA “Origins” Heritage Collection at NYFW This year, the year we’ve titled our year of “Origins”, we’ve introduced a new emblem design—four abstract A’s coming together, facing each other, as if they are in conversation with one another. This iconography represents the power and protection of storytelling as an act of cultural preservation. We’ve been enamored with the tradition of oral storytelling and how certain tales have survived/been reinterpreted and reimagined over centuries. For us, it’s the tale of Ananse the Spider, a folklore that traveled throughout the Caribbean and Americas from West Africa that has reemerged in our creative process. For our very first NYFW presentation, we debuted our latest Heritage collection alongside a live performance that embodied the spirit of this tradition. Navigating this experience leading up to NYFW has been rooted in the process of exploring, discovering, and most importantly COLLABORATING.
