Last year, when @jjmartinmilan offered to host a launch dinner for A Room of Her Own at her home in Milan it felt like an impossible dream. Still locked down in Melbourne, it was hard to imagine casting off the pandemic’s weighted blanket or find a way out of the fog to escape the creative isolation, let alone be in a room full of the extraordinary women featured in the book. This week, at the height of the frenzied Salone del Mobile - it happened! The women flew in from around the world. They met, shared stories and nodded in agreement as JJ spoke of darkness and light, vulnerability, joy and pain. We belly-laughed, danced in @ladoublej frocks, drank Negronis and plotted annual reunions in the very room that features on the cover of the book. Grazie mille carissima JJ for all the love you shared with us.
