May has been a bit lighter than usual with uploads because we’ve had so much going on, the most important of which was last weekend. I usually keep pretty quiet about personal things on socials, but something like this should be shared unapologetically. Watching Brooke graduate as valedictorian of her class and deliver her valedictory address was the proudest moment we’ve ever had. It's been such an honor to watch her grow into the gracious, humble, well-rounded young lady she is. Well-Rounded is the word I repeatedly hear from others when they talk about Brooke and a word that echoes through my mind constantly. It’s an incredible feat to work towards valedictorian in the first place...to take all those AP classes and earn that super-high GPA. But during her high school years, she was also officer and captain of her school's highly competitive state champion & nationally ranked dance team that practiced or danced almost every day of the week and on weekends. She competed on the track team, was a Student Council Representative, had countless academic honors & achievements, participated in numerous clubs and activities, reads more books for pure enjoyment (faster than anyone I’ve ever known), and has had a busy social life with many amazing friends.
Because social media is how it is, I debated whether to keep this surface-level, with a simple “we’re so proud of you” post, or do the more detailed post she deserves. I’m sure there will be comments that I'm “bragging” or whatnot. It’s hard to post facts about someone exceptional without sounding like you’re bragging. If that’s bragging, then so be it. I’m humbled by her persistence, humility, work ethic, dedication to everything she does, and her ability to relax and have fun in the process. We are so incredibly proud and can’t wait to see what her future holds!
