Finding friends on the same wavelength as you when you’re a new mum isn’t always easy. Sometimes it takes years of putting your little one first before you realise that you matter too and deserve a bit of fun every now and then. The thought of making “mum friends” felt a bit daunting at first—I worried I wouldn’t fit in, or that they wouldn’t really understand me. Somewhere along the way, I’d lost touch with who I was and what I used to enjoy before kids, and putting myself first felt a bit strange. But then we found each other, and what started as connections through our girls has turned into such a strong friendship. We’re in this together now, reminding each other that we deserve a little TLC too. So, we took a random Tuesday off for ourselves, away from cooking, cleaning, working, and “mum-ing”—just to laugh, smile, and have a proper chat.
