The PERFECT bikini doesn’t exist. That’s expected considering we all have such diverse BEAUTIFUL body types that each have different needs It’s not okay to design without taking into consideration what a marginalized community needs from the fashion industry. It’s important to understand and implement the asks. It’s not just about offering over a size L - it’s about understanding the design and how it affects different people. It comes down to fabric, shape, even color ... Furthermore, inclusivity is not just about size it’s about representation, there are communities who are marginalized in the fashion industry because of identity, ethnicity, and social standards. Just to name a few examples from our community conversations for AMS - “Modest options for me and my girls, we always find ourselves wearing tees and leggings to the beach” - “I would love to wear a two piece bikini but I can never find anything made for me as I transition” - “As a survivor I’m proud of the proof my battle, but I am not ready to remove my other breast, as you can see this is an issue when wearing a bikini” Moving into all of our projects we are committed to actively listening to you. Though we are small and have limited capital Ana Mero would rather work slow than jeopardize the integrity of AMS for her community.
