Deeply sad to hear about the passing of one of the kindest, most generous and brilliant artists I ever had the chance to work with and know. I met Angelo Badalamenti when I was in college about 30 years ago when I did research for a project for him and David Lynch. It turns out Angelo grew up right near my mother and they were in the same junior high and high school in Brooklyn and played in all city Orchestra together. Angelo generously gave me beautiful music for Cabin Fever when I had no music budget, only the promise of back end points, and it was an honor to get to pay him for the work he did with profits. But he did it out of pure love and to support me when I was just starting out because he believed in me. Now he has moved on to another plane of existence but we are left with the incredible music he gifted us and he I will feel his warmth, spirit and boundless creativity when I listen. It really just transports me to another place. Whatever lodge you have gone to, Rest in Peace Angelo. The photos are from Cannes 2001 at the premiere of Mulholland Drive.
