I’ve been feeling a bit powerless after the Dobbs decision, like many peeps out there. ⁣ ⁣ Then I thought about how I could help people in states with restrictive laws...and I used my time in New Orleans to see what I could do to help. ⁣ ⁣ I randomly had some emergency contraception pills at home (the joys of being an OB/GYN lol) and knew that they should be re-homed!⁣ ⁣ I packed up my pills and brought them down to Louisiana and was able to give them out!⁣ ⁣ I had the generic version of @planbonestep, which is levonorgestrel (a progestin) to give out! Of note, it’s most effective in people under 155 pounds. It’s less effective in people over 155 pounds, however this doesn’t mean it won’t work at all for those peeps. It just means that it’s not going to work as well - and if this is the only option you have, it’s better than nothing at all! You can take it up to 72 hours after unprotected sex. ⁣ ⁣ Other forms of Emergency Contraception are Ella (which requires a prescription) and the copper IUD (which requires an appointment with your medical provider).⁣ ⁣ No act is too small in this fight for reproductive choice and freedom.
