WOW. Just wow.
Have you ever had a moment in a National Park that just left you breathless, really moved you in a way you will never forget? One of those moments happened to me in July. On my days off, I usually rush home to spend more time with my family down the mountain, but on this particular weekend in July, my family was recovering from Covid, so I stayed up in the park and took a hike up Garfield Peak. The weather was perfect — blue skies with puffy clouds, mild temperatures, and unimpeded views in all directions. Flowers were in full bloom, and the one snowfield I had to descend, well, let's just say I went “sledding” (safely!) without a sled, and even my soggy pants somehow added to the exhilaration of the experience. This photograph was taken atop Garfield Peak on that very day.
Today is the 106th birthday of the National Park Service. Share with us your experience of awe and wonder at a National Park as a birthday “love letter” to our National Parks! Use the hashtag #CRLABirthday to share your photos, or type in your memory.
