Hurray for Hollywoodland! We invite you to visit the gardens and enjoy this year’s eclectic holiday theme. Stroll through the glistening light tunnel and head on over to Moulin Rouge, a Parisian Dancehall in the tea Garden. Take photos by a classic 1938 Packard 120 convertible sedan, complements of Packards International Motor Car Club. Sherman’s, miniature railway, at the sunset and vine station, takes you on a trip through time through the Hollywood Hills, illustrated with historic photos of Tinseltown from the Sherman Library & Gardens archives. Make a wish at The Wishing Tree and then head to The Garden Shop for unique holiday gifts. Fun Fact: Sherman, Library & Gardens, and the Hollywood sign have a unique connection. The Hollywood sign started out as the Hollywoodland, an advertising gimmick design, to attract buyers to a new luxury housing subdivision. The subdivision land was owned by Moses H. Sherman, name sake of Sherman Library & Gardens. By 1944 the sign was in disrepair, so Arnold Haskell, future founder of Sherman Library & Gardens - and after Sherman’s death in 1932 - president of M.H. Sherman Company, donated the sign to the City of Los Angeles. Later the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce paid to repair the sign and remove the “LAND” portion. #hooraryforhollywoodland . . . . . #nightsof1000lights #holidaytheme #shermangardens #shermanlibraryandgardens #visitnewportbeach #daydate #botanicalgardens #horticulture #horticulturaloasis #culturalcenter #visitcoronadelmar
