Today is the second National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. I personally struggled to know whether or not to be open today. What do we post online? How can we say or do something meaningful? How can this be more than just about today? I don’t really know but I do know this is a lifelong journey of learning and unlearning and it’s only really just beginning for me. Today, riding into town, you could see and feel that there was significantly more engagement than last year. I see this day in 5 or 6 years where there’s a respect and honoring of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. We’re not there yet, I’m not there yet, but this is a start. We will be open at both Habit and Sherwood today and we will be wearing orange to honour all the residential school survivors, their families, and all the unearthed children. We will also make a contribution to the @downiewenjack fund. SD
