Topical Vitamin C is a powerhouse skincare ingredient that I recommend for many of my patients. It is an antioxidant that can help to minimize fine lines by stimulating collagen, brighten complexion, even out skin tone and diminish dark spots ✨ Products shown in video: Top 4: Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, Vivier Radiance Serum, Skinbetter Alto Defense, Skinceuticals Phloretin Sephora: Glow Recipe Guava Vitamin C Serum, Drunk Elephant C Firma, Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, Biossance Squalane + 10% Vitamin C Dark Spot Serum Drugstore: Vichy LiftActiv Supreme Vitamin C, CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C, L’Oreal Revitalift, La Roche Posay Vit C Face Serum Others I like and recommend: Paula’s Choice C15, DRMTLGY CE+F, Naturium Vitamin C Complex, Summer Friday’s Vit C + Niacinamide, Clinique Fresh Pressed Vit C Vitamin C in its purest form is l-ascorbic acid, and this historically has been the preferred option for many. It can be unstable (especially in its pure form) but formulations are improving to address this. It’s important to store any vitamin C skincare at room temperature and out of direct sunlight to improve stability, reduce oxidation, and keep your products as effective as possible. L-ascorbic acid may be irritating to those with more sensitive skin, rosacea, or active acne. There are alternative (derivative) forms of Vitamin C that can also provide benefits to the skin with less potential irritation, though they have not been as extensively researched as l-ascorbic acid. If you choose to incorporate Vitamin C in your routine I recommend using in the morning on clean, dry skin. Vitamin C can have photoprotective benefits and combining use of sunscreen and Vitamin C can help boost protection from damaging UV rays. #drkatiebeleznay #dermatologist #skincareroutine #antioxidants #vitaminc #igskincare #instaskincare
