For young girls, ages 11 - 18, Covenant House's Hogar Querubines* is a safe haven from the trafficking and sexual violence they’ve survived. The house is always at capacity. The need is great. As told by Chris Megargee, Vice President, Latin America Ambassador, Covenant House International: I'm in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and this morning I visited Covenant House's "Hogar Querubines" (Cherubim House). During my visit, a group of six girls performed a dance piece they created. It began with a visceral expression of the abuse and trauma they suffered before they arrived at the house. It progressed into embracing their worth and their right to live free of violence. And it ended with a vivid display of the transformation and love they now experience among their fellow survivors at the home. After the performance, I thanked them. I told them I'm a dad of two children their age. And then I was too choked up with emotion to say much more. It's heartbreaking that these girls, the same ages as my children, have gone through horrors no child should ever have to endure.
