Let’s talk fire🔥 🔥 I’ve just been for a sunset stroll around Loch Morlich, a beautiful spot surrounded by ancient pines, mountains and crystal clear water. It’s no wonder people come from all over the world to see just how beautiful it is. The Easter weekend has been busy in Scotland and there’s lots of people setting up camp for the night. I’ve wild camped a number of times in Scotland and would always encourage people do give it a go... But please, if you go on these adventures to wild and sensitive sites, do not light a fire. Last year this forest lost seven football fields worth of important land because of a BBQ that got out of control. Accidents do happen no matter how careful you may be, and these forests are highly flammable. They get out of hand SO quickly. Tonight there were over 7 fires in one tiny spot 🥺 I’m all about exploring and having a great time - but not at the expense of the habitat you are there to enjoy. On a lighter note, had a lovely woodcock fly by over our heads on the way to the car! Always a nice surprise ☺️ Please do share this message and tell other campers! It’s such a wonderful thing to live close to these areas of stunning natural beauty. We’ve just got to respect them to help protect them. M x
