One of the things I think about more and more these days revolves around empowerment. I work with women and girls in Kenya with the hopes of equipping them with the tools to one day be leaders in their communities. While the circumstances are drastically different, I see it as my duty to empower my own children as well. I want them to grow to be strong young men who not only believe they can do what they put their minds to, but also possess the skills to do those things. They developed a new level of independence during the pandemic lockdown, and that, coupled with their ages, has shown me glimpses into their potential future endeavors. It all starts with empowerment. We have to continue to lift our children up and ensure they believe in themselves and their own abilities.
