When John got out of the military in 1968 he decided he was going full steam ahead! A huge turning point for him was the release of his song “Porterville” which he wrote while he was marching in the army. It paved the way for the release of CCR’s first self-titled album. First known as The Golliwogs, they changed the name to Creedence Clearwater Revival around this time.
