Celebrating our “now” for all its beauty and yes, all its challenges. The challenge for me this season is to grow in selflessness, patience, gentleness and self control. Instead of looking at the things I need to overcome, I’m focusing on where I’d like to be. A slight shift, but oh so powerful. These past few weeks, I’ve been meditating on this quote by Apostle Paul:
Whatever things are true,
whatever things are noble,
whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure,
whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report,
if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.
-Philippians 4:8
It’s been a source of joy for me these last couple of weeks- a routine reminder that my life is absolutely bursting with blessings. When I’m tired, need a timeout or just a good cry, I’m learning to honor that. But I find myself less overwhelmed and more at peace as I center myself more consistently on “the little things” that are simply good.
A warm house, a kind husband, healthy kids and friends who feel like family... Do I get grumpy? Yes. Have a succumbed to my irritation and fallen short? Yes. But life is all about the journey and I’m enjoying the dance of one step forward, one step back... 😉
