Sometimes as artists we feel more vulnerable than the rest of the planet and we can attempt to isolate ourselves, but it’s true that humans do better in communities. As we take time to say goodbye to 2022, to our mama-in-chief (Eleanor Moore, Rest in ☮️), we do take comfort and appreciate having the opportunity to learn from wonderful, articulate, younger generations, as she did. This has been quite a year of navigating twists and turns, and there have been fears of the unknown, which is natural. Some of the challenges, which at first seemed monstrous in proportions, just stopped us in our tracks. We had existential questions. Should we continue? Should we seek to carry on this business of daydreaming and ecstasies... (I mean.) We have had a thoughtful examination of the assets of our “company”, and an assessment of the concept of prosperity through a wider lens. We continue to do what we do. We continue to seek harmony. We regard our partners in business and every other creature as sympathetic beings. To be and remain ecstatic, one does not have opponents. To try to understand this planet, we try to understand where everyone is coming from. Sometimes we take knocks. Heal. Bounce back. Artists, friends, please have confidence, remember everything you achieved when you took chances. Believe in yourself. Stand up for yourself, and also hold dear and preserve yr beautiful confidence for the stage, the canvas, the typewriter, the studio.... With challenges, and the temporary closure of the record store (looking for a new spot in our new hood, Hammersmith!) we are ever grateful to enjoy the sacred support of all our friends, whose engagement enriches our lives and work. We are sure each of us is also grateful for the love of friends and family, and for times when others have shown us compassion and kindness when we most needed it. Over these holidays we hope that you have the opportunity to spend time with those who are important to you, to share your gratitude for the sense of belonging this time of year brings and to recommit to supporting those who are less fortunate.
