IMPORTANT ONE. The Road Less Traveled. Part 1...... Just got back to Haiti today. This place spawned one of the biggest turning points in my life. The photos in these slides are from our first days of the 2010 earthquake. I saw true pain and suffering, death, amputations etc. I watched a nation in dire hells bleeding and screaming in the rubble with the stench of death everywhere in the air. Over 300,000 people died from that earthquake. This marked me and taught me what matters in life. I will never forget returning home after my first 10 days here, coming home on a Saturday afternoon, changing outfits and walking into our nightclubs the same day. Watching the supposed cool scene oblivious, and ignorant to everything. These were the first footsteps to the road less traveled. It started to all seem so absurd as I would watch people spray thousands of dollars of champagne in the air to mark their position in the nightlife ladders of ego. I started realizing that with just those wasted dollars, thousands could be helped. But with 20 years of programming in that world, it wasn’t so easy to shift. The scene was my world too and I tried to do both for another couple years. Over time, I also understood that most beings on earth don’t genuinely care that much about others unless it’s their closest friends or families that suffer. I also realized that as soon as something bad would happen to them, then that would awaken something inside of them and create an opportunity too for a shift. If one never cared about cancer for example, but their parent would die of cancer, they would then become cancer advocates. This is now my 100th trip to Haiti since Haiti Empowerment Mission was founded to help here initially and grew globally into 44 other countries today. We changed its name to @globalempowermentmission in 2015. Fast forward now to over 300 missions later and what have I learned? I have watched millions of people suffer from countless events. I have also seen first hand how after such experiences they also shift and find their paths. I have come to be certain that in these times, everything that is happening is part of a much bigger master plan than we think.
