In our work, we’re driven by both biophilia and a feeling of urgency to be part of the shift towards more sustainable living and making. As part of trying to work sustainably on Here Together Kinship, we are using Statens Kunstfond’s new CO2 tracking tool to measure carbon emissions emitted during the production of the project. This data will be shared later in year, in the meantime – we are sharing the unexpected creative material solutions that occur when attempting to work sustainably: second hand sail textiles from landfill, hemp fibres, locally-grown reed panels, organic pigments, beanbags stuffed with hay, potatoes and more... Each project involves a continuous challenge and discussion on how we source and choose materials, how we define sustainability (such as deciding between second-hand materials, or purely biodegradable materials), and the value of storytelling, and communicating ecological discussions versus what resources we use. It is an ongoing, imperfect and messy process which will continue to evolve as we continue to learn – we hope tools such as the CO2 tracker help this practice. The artwork Here Together Kinship is developed together with the activist groups @dengroenneungdomsbevaegelse, @lgbtdanmark, @fridaysforfuturedenmark and @ungenergi as well as with a group of artists, architects and designers: @ellayolande, Charlotte Toro @fievonveer, @emiliestroem, @lucyevafl, @rebekkabank and light studio @optika.studio. Thank you to the curators, organisers and more @roskildefestival @signebrinkweh @kelisagot @sillestenkvist @pernillevingaard @jude_bennett____ @ya_ku_b and the fantastic Flokkr build crew, and @statenskunstfond for supporting this project. #heretogetherkinship #roskildefestival #RF50 #flokkr #flokkrstage #statenskunstfond #baumleahy Cover image: Lars Vibild, following images Baum & Leahy and Ella Yolande
