Growing up, whether at home, in duksi or mosques, we were familiar with the names of many companions (sahabas) of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). And also a bit of their life stories, significance and relations with the Messenger of God. Companions like Abu Hureira and his closeness to the Prophet, Abdulrahman Ibn Auf and his huge wealth from which he catered for expenses of many poor Muslims, Abubakar Assidiq and his kindness towards the slaves ( which he bought and freed), Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yaman and his legendary stories of unique intelligence and quick-wittedness, Musab Ibn Umayr (the first ambassador of Islam), Bilal Ibn Rabah (the first ever muadhin) and his beautiful call to prayer (adhan), Suhayl Ibn Amr and his gifted oratory skills, the battle-hardened General Khalid Ibn Walid and his military prowess and many many more.
