My speech from the #COP27 global day of action #ClimateJustice rally in London on Saturday. From the bottom of my heart I KNOW that we CAN and we WILL #StopRosebank. We have won before and we can do it again. We beat shell last year with #StopCambo - 170 million barrels of oil are no closer to being burned due to the climate justice movement in the U.K. Why wouldn’t we believe that we will win again and then fight to make it happen? “Arguably the most prominent deterrent to supporting oil and gas development in the North Sea is the size and organisational ability of environmental activists in the region.” - oil and gas industry publication, July 2022 🚨Call to action🚨: If you are in London, join @fossilfreelondon outside the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) tomorrow, Thursday 17th November, from 8am, to demand that they reject @equinor’s application to develop Rosebank, the biggest undeveloped oil and gas field in the North Sea. The NSTA, as the industry regulator, has the power to reject new North Sea oil and gas development applications. Come along tomorrow morning to shed some light on this little-known authority’s role in propping up the fossil fuel industry.
