This is the first time in human history that such a small percentage of the population produced their own food, or even knew how. Less than 100 years ago, most Americans produced more than half of all of the food they consumed, and I would bet that almost everyone knew how to grow a garden, how to catch a chicken and prepare it for dinner, how to preserve food for the winter months. . Knowledge is power.
