Israel. Perhaps a less mainstream honeymoon destination, but surely one we shall not forget. Too many noteworthy things to be grateful for: exploring the city and finding ourselves inside an empty Church of the Holy Sepulchre (it is usually jam-packed), celebrating Shavuot / Pentecost Sunday privately with our group at the Garden Tomb, getting to learn more about Israeli wine from Michal the winemaker herself...but truly, it was the people we met that made all the difference. Many would visit the Holy Land seeking supernatural encounters. But visiting the sites, to me, highlighted the Good News that “He is not here, He is risen.” And that He had sent His Spirit to now dwell in His people. His people. Those we have had the privilege to meet, spent bus trips, tours, meals, and Shabbat dinners with. Thank you for extending to us your hospitality, love, and lives. One thing I especially loved witnessing in their lives, had been, how ministry and discipleship in the home, is a most beautiful duty and delight. As a newlywed, this had been my mulling. For most of my life had been, ministry in the context of singleness, where Paul says we would have “undivided devotion to the Lord,” (1 Cor 7:35). So stepping into marriage had a resonating turmoil: “how shall I now serve You, when my interests are divided?” (ref. v.34). Yet a kind reminder, and a most comforting invitation. That in this God-given, new season of marriage, I trust that the Lord would lead us both, to daily learn to serve each other faithfully, and to, God-willing, in due time, bear and rear children who would grow to fear and love Him wholeheartedly. #jonjess22 #holyland #pilgrims #JonaNyamanJess
