I only knew the girl in the top left corner for about two months. I only spent two days with her in person and yet, somehow, she managed to get her paw prints all over my heart.
She was one of those dogs that have a somewhat stoic feel to them. The quiet, gentle, unbothered feel. Unlike most in-your-face puppies, she was one of those that didn't beg for attention but kept silently observing and doing her thing.
The bed I slept in at @imsoneproject wasn't really a bed but a mattress propped up by a stack of boxes. It's was higher off the ground than a regular bed would be so that dogs couldn’t climb up even though they most certainly tried.
But this girl knew how to do it.
Out of about a dozen puppies, she was the only one that found her way into my bed in the middle of the night. She somehow managed to climb up, past my head and nestled herself behind my knees and stayed there until the morning.
I felt somewhat honoured that she decided to spend that time with me even though I don't doubt the main thing she was after was a comfy place to rest her head.
She didn't have a name. She was PF198 right up until yesterday when she left IP and this world forever.
She most likely contracted parvo--a deadly virus that only the luckiest of puppies survive.
She, unfortunately, wasn't one of them.
I think one of the hardest things in animal rescue is accepting the fact that often even our best is not enough.
No matter how much we try, animals die.
No matter how much we try, we can't get to them all.
No matter how much we try, we don't raise enough to be able to provide for all the shelter and animal's needs.
We named her Śanti. Peace. And I'll see her in all the calm, quiet dogs that I'll meet as I continue walking through this life that was cut too short for her.
Rest in Peace, little one.

If we had more support, we could have a vet on site. If we had more support, we could have a bigger team to offer these animals better care. If we had more support, we’d could rescue and help even more animals of Morocco.
If you share that dream with us, please help us out with a donation if it’s in your power.
Link to our food campaign is in bio.
Thank you.
