There is no such thing as good eaters and bad eaters because eating has no moral value assigned to it. It's a biological function necessary for survival and like breathing, there is no contest for doing it. When you let go of the lifetime of engrained food rules strung around your neck like an albatross, the world gets so much brighter. Every single bento box photo I post, someone comments: "do your kids eat all that?! Mine would never!" - appetites, dietary needs, and tastes change day to day. My kids aren't better than yours for eating more food (just hungrier) and your kids aren't bad eaters if they come home with a full lunchbox. TRULY honouring an intuitive eating lifestyle means accepting a (neurotypical) child won't starve themselves, and granting them the independence to decide if they want to eat and how much. School is fun and exciting and there is so much to do and see and learn and cause ruckus with - I forget to eat when I'm a busy bee too, don't you? This week (and every week), treat meals with grace and leave morality out of it. If your (neurotypical) kiddo isn't food shaming others for their choices, eating when they're hungry, and articulating their choices to you - you have an eater. Just like you and I.
