This competition taught me so much about the power of the mind. For me, 2022 has been the first year where my personal training and diving has been sidelined by other responsibilities and priorities with work. Between January-June I trained less than 10 times in the water. I did just 3 easy dives from 27m last week before coming here. With the level of competition at an all time high, I was scared the lack of physical preparation would stop me from being able to challenge. In the first round I messed up my flying front which is normally my best dive. I came out of the water feeling defeated but it ingited the fire that I had to wake up and fight back. I soaked in the atmosphere of the moment and came back with good inward triple and quad for 8-8.5s to put me in 7th going into the final. Handstand felt good in the air but just dropped it a tad short in the end to finish in 9th of 12 overall. I’ve been so scared for weeks leading up to this but it’s truly remarkable how natural and comfortable I felt being up there this week. The brain is powerful and the minute your toes reach the edge of the platform the concentration, muscle memory and clarity all come to you. I loved every second of diving this week. It was also so cool to share the moment with my family and friends who came out to support. So good to see everyone and share the time to together! Onto the European championship in Rome this weekend!
