Yesterday, in recognition of #ConstitutionDay, James A. Garfield NHS (@garfieldnps) hosted a naturalization ceremony that saw 25 people from around the world take their oaths as American citizens. After the ceremony ended, new citizens were invited to enjoy refreshments provided by the Lake County League of Women Voters, tour the historic Garfield home, and register to vote. The National Park Service and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services have a partnership that encourages both agencies to co-host naturalization ceremonies in these special places set aside for public enjoyment and historical commemoration.
