A few months ago I visited this village in Gambia where there’s a growing problem around maternity care leading to unnecessary suffering of mothers and their families. A lack of clinics and hospitals means many women have to face losing their child or their own life during childbirth and I strongly believe when we are presented with information like this, we have a responsibility to serve humanity - especially our own people. This is a call to raise awareness of this major problem across the country to raise money towards building clinics that are accessible and equipped. I have never experienced childbirth but I know for a fact it’s one of the toughest things to go through in life and no one deserves to suffer this way going through it.
