“To the outside world, it's a pretty fast pace,” says @feek____ (Taofeek Abijako). “But what a lot of people don't understand is, I started this brand in 2016.” Taofeek founded his contemporary clothing brand, @headofstate_, as a senior in high school. Born in Nigeria, raised in Albany and now living in Brooklyn, he’s a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist and member of the @yourfriendsinnewyork fashion incubator. In addition to designing his own line, Taofeek has created Met Gala looks, is working on costume design for film and theater productions, and is preparing to launch his womenswear with influential retailers such as @ssense and @h_lorenzo. In 2021, Taofeek received a $100,000 grant from Instagram and the @brooklynmuseum in recognition of his visionary work. His advice for young artists striving to find their way: “Have a clear idea of what you really, really want. And it's not just about your vision itself.
