โ€œThe Rise of Mareaโ€ ๐ŸŒŠ @mareanyc ๐Ÿ’™ Exactly two years ago New Yorkers were emerging from a mandatory shutdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak. ๐Ÿ’™ The Department of Transportation of @newyorkcity had send out guidelines on how restaurants could start offering service outdoors with very specific instructions. ๐Ÿ’™ Guidelines that included building Outdoor Dining sheds in areas where months before were occupied by parked vehicles ๐Ÿš—. ๐Ÿ’™ Unfortunately for @mareanyc this was not even an option since they are located on Central Park South right in front of the cross town bus ๐ŸšŒ stop. They were allowed to set up dining room on a shared sidewalk. The only issue..there was a massive scaffolding covering Mareaโ€™s storefront and entire building. ๐Ÿ’™ Thatโ€™s when architect @nusladesign brought us along. I decided that a scaffolding that size was impossible to decorate...and the only way to tackle this was to make it disappear with our GLAMffolding TM๏ธ approach. ๐Ÿ’™ The scaffolding pipes were painted brown to camouflage our signature Willow & Wisteria branch structure and the ceiling was painted green to camouflage the foliage. Custom planters were also made to cover the legs of the scaffolding creating an immersive floral tunnel measuring over 100 feet long. ๐Ÿ’™ The concept โ€œUnder the Marea ๐ŸŒŠโ€ (Marea means Tide) was conceptualized to remind us that New Yorkers are probably the must resilient human beings on earth. And just like the white foam on the ocean tides we were going to rise ๐ŸŒŠ. ๐Ÿ“ธ @picandpetal ๐Ÿ“ Central Park South #floratorium #thestorefrontflorist #floratoriumwashere #tbt #marea
