Coastal Grandma Summer isn’t over yet! 🌳 I created this towering branch situation last week—and was reminded how easy, impactful, and FREE an arrangement like this is! Of course there are some tricks to making it work so here they are: 1. You’ll need a tall vase with a narrow mouth or all your branches will just flop + splay too wide. You can always hide a smaller vase inside a bigger vase to contain the branches better—though I love the look of this glass one because I like to see the water and wet branches inside. This one is from Target and was $20! 2. Bring your vase and a sturdy pair of clippers or scissors outside and do the arrangement there. Not only does it make less mess, but you can clip branches as needed rather than clipping a ton of extras, bringing them inside, and not using 3/4 of what you clipped. (I’ve learned this one the hard way. 😂) 3. Balance and proportion are your magic words for the position of your branches! Start with a couple really big tall ones then layer in smaller ones. Remove leaves if the branches look too crowded—you want it full but not BUSHY. 😬 And be careful that it doesn’t look totally symmetrical like bunny ears, but not lopsided either. Expect some trial and error til you get it *chef’s kiss*! 4. Refresh your water as the branches will drink it up! It’ll start to look grimy so you may need to pour it out and replace it completely. But this arrangement should last at LEAST a week if you keep it hydrated! 5. Oh and a word about types of branch! Not every tree is a good candidate—you want branches and leaves that have plenty of layered movement, nothing too stiff. This one’s a big maple in our yard and I can’t wait to make the same type of arrangement when the colors change for fall! Did you find this post inspiring? Save it and try this easy foliage arrangement at home! #fallhomedecor #transitionalhomedecor #fallarrangement #diydecorinspo
