Laura Poitras's portrait of Nan Goldin, “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” premiered at the Venice Film Festival to great accolades from the press. The film subsequently won the Golden Lion on Saturday, September 10th, becoming only the second documentary to take the top prize in the event’s 90-year history. “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed” interweaves Goldin’s past and present through her works, intimate conversations and powerful connections between the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and the overdose epidemic of today, wrote Lindsey Bahr of the Associated Press. “Nan’s life deserves an epic film, for what she’s done, what she’s accomplished and the risks she’s taken," said Poitras. #HappyBirthday #NanGoldin 📸: @neonrated #venezia79 #biennalecinema2022
