Today at Katsucon I’m debuting my @hannah_alexander_artwork Sophie cosplay! I began this costume over the quarantine period of 2020 and have slowly been making progress and working towards finishing for Katsu. There was SO MUCH pre-planning and designing for this cosplay before I could even cut anything or sew. I used Hannah’s design to digitize and create my own textile files for sublimation as engineered prints, and ALL of the fabrics I used are from my designs and printed on Spoonflower. No gradient dying or painting! All of the gems are hand applied. Most of them are sew-on flatbacks, and after rallying up my purchases, I counted that this costume has 2,995 rhinestones on it 😳 My process was to glue each stone over the corresponding shape of the fabric design, let it dry for a day, and then I went back and hand sewed each single stone to be sure everything was secure.
