The International Black Theatre Summit, convened by The CRAFT Institute, launched the inaugural #BlackTheatre Day last year to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the African Grove Theatre, the first known professional Black theatre company, which opened their first season on Sept. 17, 1821 in NY.
