Raf Simons is shuttering his namesake label after 27 years. The news, announced via Instagram, comes as a shock to longtime devotees of the Belgian designer. “I lack the words to share how proud I am of all that we have achieved,” Simons wrote in the post. “Thank you all, for believing in our vision and believing in me.” After working as a furniture designer, Simons launched his menswear line in 1995. Originally noted for plunging cultural signifiers of Simons’ youth (like his favorite bands Kraftwerk and Joy Division), the label steadily grew in acclaim and popularity throughout the 2000s. In 2020 Simons debuted his first full womenswear collection titled Teenage Dream that was inspired in part by ‘Zabriskie Point’ the 1970 film about counterculture and rebellion in the U.S. Just last month Simons presented the brand’s spring 2023 show in London. That collection will be its last. Link in bio for what we know so far. _ #RafSimons @gettyimages
