A fresh Island X feature is up and running on @fieldmag featuring 35mm and 120 film photos from our time in the Bering. ⁣ ⁣ Good grief I just love the feeling of film photographs. I love the sound of an old camera’s shutter. I love manually focusing. I love packaging exposed rolls into padded envelopes and sending them to the lab. And, as you could imagine, I love the results. I love a finger over the lens. I love the grain. I love that they’re almost always out of focus. And I love the people in them. ⁣ ⁣ As digital imagery turned from a fringe format to the standard we all use, I’m so thankful I never stopped shooting film. With digital, you more or less know what you’re going to get. And as the self-proclaimed “most impatient human in the world”, I do like that. But I could never abandon film. I never have.
