INCOMPLETE POST ALERT: A couple of days prior to the start of our show, U Special's shoot, I decided to go sweatshirt shopping, since early March mornings in Delhi are known to be nippy. I chanced upon this beaut of a Superbad (a modern classic in my book) sweatshirt and bought it without batting an eyelid. Fast-forward to the 1st day of shoot. D-DAY (my first time as director on a project of this scale and all that). So obviously, the sweatshirt was inaugurated and lo and behold, right before we take the first shot ('roll Ganpati'), a monkey takes a piss on me. Yup, a MONKEY!! I'm shellshocked, so much so that I keep the sweatshirt on till lunch, just to let it all quite literally 'sink in'. Of course, post the moment, the religious well-wishers on set claimed that it was 'shagun' (apparently in some version of Hindu mythology, Hanuman's urine is considered a blessing). Perhaps it was, since we did end up shooting 33 days hassle-free, with some absolutely 'special' humans who helped put this project together. But I don't plan to thank them just yet, because as an iconic 90s boy band once said - '... WE'LL BE COMING BACK AGAIN!!'
