Join us in celebrating our class of 2022 seniors! @mstinalawson’s Angels and @mrrichardlawson’s Warrior programs empower talented students to identify their dreams, and with a mentor, gain the clarity, discipline and skill to achieve them. Learn more about our mentees here!
1. “WACO helped me build my self-love.” Myrna shares that she has never been in a program like ours. She is a part of the WACO family–and we can’t wait to see her soar @XULA1925!
2. “It is important for me as a Black girl to share my stories.” @nyaraefrancis is headed to @SMCedu and found her voice through WACO.
3. “When I first joined the program, I hated being seen. Now that I'm older, I absolutely love being seen....and seeing myself.” Shares Laila, who will attend an #HBCU this fall! #WeSeeYou
4.Chibuike is headed to @csun_edu to major in Computer Science. We are so proud of his empathy and ability to collaborate with others.
5. Jordan loves film editing. He shares how he’s built new skills, created lasting friendships and learned trust through the WACO mentors.
6. Nayeli’s story touches us all. She has grown her confidence and will continue her studies in acting and performance to live out her dreams.
7. Kaya believes in the bond of sisterhood that we work to build with each of our Angels. As she pursues a future career in psychology we hope that bond extends to others.
8. As a songwriter and performing artist, when Jordan W. steps in the room you can see him physically (he is 6’6!) and you can feel the power of his art. Congrats Jordan!
9. Gabriella (@calstatela) is a talented visual artist. She found her creative calling through our program and will be a future animator, whose art will inspire us all.
10. After losing a parent, Amari found a family at WACO. “You don’t have to always be so tough,” she shares. Her truth and authenticity will be necessary as she begins her acting studies at @GCU.
