Our friend Lau and his Corvid say: “Les Perrons is a classic Chamonix ridge climb in the Aiguilles Rouges. It offers some amazing views of the Mont Blanc massif and the Emosson dam. I was the second person to jump this seven years ago, after Guillaume Martina, and this was my first time back since. This particular flight felt righteous for a couple of reasons: the approach took quite a bit of mental persistence, and more importantly, I made some concessions on how I flew the line because of perceived safety concerns. The canyon to the left offers an aesthetic line passing through a massive crack followed by a precise right turn under some power lines that can be difficult to see. With the valley breeze present at the landing area, my lack of sleep, the clouds moving in and out above the cables and the decision fatigue we had suffered with the committing nature of the approach, I decided to not fly that line, and be more conservative. The hard decisions came from having to commit to the jump after the second rappel or one of us would have to free climb back to the belay station. I took in some of the nice views and got a recon flight of the power lines and maybe I'll go back and get the line I planned... or maybe not - regardless I was proud of the decision-making.” @laurent.frat CloudLite Corvid + CXUL + IBEX.UL + Snatch + Trail Stache
