📍MUNICH GUIDE! (+ day trips to Salzburg, Austria & Nuremberg) This is our 2nd year doing a Christmas market trip and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s jolly and festive, plus you can see a lot of sights with less crowds and often enjoy milder weather. Here’s my recs from this leg of our trip: Stay: 🏢 @andazmunich - well appointed rooms and a tram stop right across the street make it an easy jumping off point thats a bit removed from the chaos of the city Eat: 🌯 Munich: we had fabulous meals at Gasthaus Weinbauer (pretzel crusted schnitzel will change your life), @dastschecherl , @waltz.gasthaus. Also got great donor kebab at Ala Kefak and BLM Donor, and highly recommend getting fancy drinks at @tantris.bar. 🌭 Salzburg: Highly recommend grabbing lunch at @schlossmoenchstein restaurant The Glass Garden. It’s a Michelin starred restaurant with stunning views of the city, but note it is a (literal) hike to get up there if you choose to walk! 🥨 Nuremberg: We had a great traditional meal at @tucherbraeu_am_opernhaus 🎄Christmas markets: various markets will have different offerings, but some items you must try: any kind of wurst (sausage), a fresh pretzel, spätzle with cheese and fried onion or get the version with kraut, crepes, schaumkuss (chocolate covered meringue), roasted almonds, glühwein (hot mulled wine), eierpunsch (eggnog), and of course lebkuchen (gingerbread cookie).
