There are two weeks left to visit Great Park Gallery’s collective art exhibition "Beyond the Decorative,” featuring Peruvian/Dutch/American visual artist and educator Reed van Brunschot. She received her MFA from the University of Southern California's Roski School of Art and Design in 2019 and her BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie voor het Kunst in Amsterdam in 2011. She has had exhibitions in the Netherlands, China, Brazil, and the US. Brunschot works with sculpture, performance, installations, and video art. Her artworks take on displacement, daily life, and absurdity. By building relationships between unexpected elements, through materialization or correlation to the viewer, there is an emphasis on a dialog between the human and object. Her practice is based on themes of childhood, home life, and all things ephemeral. For “Beyond the Decorative,” is showing a kitchenette made of a 25-year-old divorcee’s wedding dress that was deconstructed by the artist and repurposed for this artwork. "Beyond the Decorative” is on view until Saturday, December 31. Great Park Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, noon–4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. For more information about “Beyond the Decorative,” visit yourgreatpark.org/arts. #YourGreatPark #GreatParkGallery #Irvine #ReedvanBrunschot #ThingsToDoInOC
