Rest in Peace Darling Issey 🕊 A true, supportive friend of mine since 1971. When I first visited Tokyo in the early 70’s it was he that organised an introduction to the Seibu store. Issey later introduced me to the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and we have many fond memories of sharing these moments together, relishing in the warmth of Japanese culture. The amazing flowers he always sent me when I came to Tokyo became inspiration to one of my most cherished prints named ‘Field of Lilies.’ When Issey was awarded his much deserved honorary doctrine from the Royal College of Art in 1993 I hosted a celebratory dinner at my penthouse in London. I often think of Issey’s kind and genuine aura, one that stayed with you long after he left your presence. A pioneer of pleating and beyond, Issey’s talents knew no bounds and this is reflected in his cult following throughout the decades. His giant contribution to the world of fashion is immeasurable - he will be remembered and live on forever. To you Issey, we will miss you greatly ❤️ Photo taken in 1988, Japan
