We made a collaboration with @vilma.jaa for her new single "Syntymistään sureva" Vilma will be also one of the @flowfestivalhelsinki artists in this year! Go and see this talented girl on stage. 🌸🔥 Ethno pop artist Vilma Jää is a singer, composer and fiddler who combines centuries old stories with electronic music. In her music she approaches current events through history which sadly reveals to us how little the world has in many ways changed, especially regarding women’s rights. The inspiration for the clothing came from combining Vilma's and my ideas together. Vilma's outfit is made of surplus fabric from my collection. The collaboration started from Vilma's folk costume ideas while staying true to my own design language. I always take the entire life cycle of textiles into account by e.g. using mono materials that are easier to recycle than mixed materials, On my designs, I don ́t use buttons or zips that cause an extra step in the recycling process. The outfit has laces which allow the outfit to be modified, creating more ways of use. A changing product doesn’t age but gets better with time. In my design, I mostly use natural fibers and natural dyes, which only grip onto natural fibers. This silk organza outfit could in the future also be dyed with natural colors. I want to think that garments can also live over time.
