One thing I know about most women: we are NOT EXTRA we are just layered AF! I remember working in magazine publishing and often feeling like I had to be one of the very few voices for Black and Brown voices. I remember having conversations with brands and experts in an attempt help them understand and appreciate that Black women are not a monolith. Some might say extra...it’s just more than most! I’m sexy at times. Confident in my perspective always. Relaxed and observant at others. I’m athletic and assertive at other times. On occasion demure and working to lean even more into my divine feminine. Always intelligent and often silly and playful. There are layers to this! And us! There was a time when the thought of being “extra” meant too much. The truth is that you are more than enough! Period.
