When we first met I knew I wanted to be around her every minute I could. I thought she was just really funny and cool, but then I realized I hadn’t ever felt like that toward a friend.
I had recently divorced my high school sweetheart.
I had been following what society told me to do. Dated the high school quarterback through high school. He and I went off to college. Got married. Had a son.
But, while I was pregnant with our son, I was in a sociology class in college, and it was in that class I heard him talk about society and the “norms.”
And it hit me.
He didn’t even mention same-sex relationships. Just basic everyday norms, but that’s when I knew I had followed what society does. I had been living and going along with the motions.
I sat in the class with my unborn son and felt so lost.
I pushed that to the side for as long as I could. He was 2 years old, and it was my 25th birthday when I say I had a quarter-life crisis.
Or what I want to call a 'decided to find myself' crisis.
I went to counseling and separated from my husband.
Erin and I met at work. We found love in what I want to call a hopeless place. Neither of us had been in a same-sex relationship, and we both had the weirdest feelings/attraction that we were afraid to act on.
After months of weirdness, I took my shot, and we’ve been together for almost 9 years."
Erin & Tasha have legally married, but they're planning a big wedding sometime next year. And, we've just shared their journey so far over on the blog - we'll pop a link to their story up in our bio for you 👆
