A common dwarf mongoose standing for a better view of its surrounds at @thesafaricollection Sala’s Camp. One of Kenya’s two species of social mongooses, they live in extended family groups of up to around 30 members. The group is led by a dominant pair who do most of the breeding (although others may also when conditions are good) and all members assist with rearing the pups. They are omnivores eating arthropods, rodents, birds and berries.
