Takako Yamaguchi is showing a series of five of her “white-on-white” paintings at as-is.la, on view now through June 6. The artist is pictured here with a painted relief she made at the gallery during the pandemic lockdown. In her own words: “I recognize that portable art isn’t context-free art, that even an easel painting is in some sense “site specific,” inextricably tied to the institutions from which it borrows and to which it lends credibility and legitimacy.
